Long-Distance Readings

“You do readings over the phone?!”

“Yep, I sure do! And email!”

“How on earth does that work?”

It amuses me that people are baffled by phone and email readings! But at least they believe a reading can be done. That is a good first step. But why is it more believable that a reading can be done in person, but not long-distance?

I think people are quick to believe in an in-person reading because they can see it. They can see the cards, they can see your face, and they can touch something. They can respond and react with more than just their voice.

The disconnect is most people still don’t understand energy!

A reading is an energetic evaluation! When someone reads you, they are tapping into the energies that surround you. They are recounting your energetic story… the one that you are creating in your personal universe… which links up with the big Universe and makes things happen!

Even if a reader is using Tarot cards, or tealeaves, or palms, or runes… they are only tools. The tools are creating patterns based on energy, and the reader is interpreting those patterns.

And… energy has NO limitations. It isn’t bound by time and space. It doesn’t have to conform to gravity. Energy is anywhere and everywhere. A thought can be sent to the other side of the world instantly. A dream can bring two people together who have never met before. That is the magic of the unseen world!

So when you have a long distance reading… you may not be right there. But your energy is!

…so if you want a reading via phone or email… it will be just as magical as if you were sitting across from me :-)

Forget the Crystal Ball! How Tarot Can Deepen Your Personal Insight

Today Brigit of Biddy Tarot is visiting! What a wonderful, and insightful treat. Brigit is the author of, Tarot Foundations: 31 Days to Read Tarot with Confidence and an extraordinary teacher. I hope you enjoy her contribution :-)

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words, “Tarot Card Reader”? Crystal balls? Gypsies? Psychic powers? Crushed velvet? 1800 numbers? All of the above?

Sure, that all exists, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Many ‘normal’ people are using the Tarot cards on an everyday basis for self-development and personal insight. Crystal balls and crushed velvet don’t even come into the equation.

You want to know why you’re feeling ‘lost’? Why your relationship isn’t working like you want it to? How you can improve your work situation? How you can be the person you really want to be? All of these types of questions are perfect for the Tarot.

The Tarot has this innate power to be whatever you want it to be. In fact, Tarot can be used as a tool for:

  • Spiritual guidance
  • Understanding the present
  • Learning more about yourself
  • Exploring mythology and symbolism
  • Personal growth and development
  • Solving problems or dilemmas
  • Earning an income as a professional
  • Making important decisions
  • Validating a gut feeling
  • Daily or weekly guidance
  • Self-examination and psychoanalysis
  • Empowerment
  • Meditation and introspection
  • Developing your psychic abilities or intuition
  • Creative thinking

Using the Tarot for Self-Development and Personal Insight

One of the most powerful uses of the Tarot is for self-development and personal insight. This can be on a very deep level, such as using just the Major Arcana cards in a Tarot reading to understand your current life lessons and your inner purpose and meaning. Or it may be on a more day-to-day level as you figure out the solution to a current dilemma or problem.

To use the Tarot cards for personal insight, try some (or all) of these activities:

Draw a Card a Day

Draw one card at the start of the day asking, “What do I need to know about today?” Think about what this card is telling you – what events or situations to expect, what you can learn during the day, what you need to watch out for, where your best opportunities lie, etc. At the end of the day, reflect on how this card related to your actual experience and take note of what you have learned. Over time, you will form an even stronger personal connection with your cards and you will find that your cards offer you profound insight, even on a day-to-day basis.

Get to Know Yourself with the Major Arcana

If you’re feeling ‘lost’ or directionless, then exploring the Major Arcana in relation to yourself can be a very helpful way to rediscover your direction. Use the “Get to Know Yourself with the Major Arcana” questionnaire to ask yourself some of the more deeper questions about your life path. Or, work with each Major Arcana card, tapping into the life lessons that each has to share.

Use Simple One Card Readings

If you’re facing a dilemma or you need insight into a personal situation, use a simple one card reading to provide insight. First, clearly frame your question. Ask, “What do I need to know about….?” or “Where do my best options lie?” or “What do I need to take into account when making this decision?” Then, draw one card, and one card only. Go deep into that card by exploring the symbolism, elemental and numerological associations, and your intuitive feelings. Resist the temptation to draw ‘clarifier’ cards which often only serve to complicate the reading. And resist the urge to keep asking the same question in the hope of finding the answer you want. The key is to stay focused on the one question and the one card.

Meditate with the Tarot Cards

This final activity is incredibly powerful and will help you to build a very strong and personal connection with the cards. By relaxing your mind and taking yourself ‘into’ the card, you tap into your subconscious mind and explore the Universal energies associated with that card on a very deep level. Read more about how to meditate with the Tarot cards on my blog.

So, forget about the crystal ball, my friends! You don’t need it. Instead, draw on the Tarot cards to help you on an everyday basis to develop your personal insight and guide you on your path.

It’s the End of the World As We Know It

Today is the day that the world will spiral off into oblivion! All of us are going to crash and burn into the sun, and become particles of dust, forgotten in the Universe! NOT!! As romantic as all that sounds, it’s all made up! The world may end at some point, but it isn’t today. In fact, today marks a new beginning.

So now that I’ve disappointed you, let me give my 2 cents on what is happening. This is a time of energetic shifts and fluxuations. We are ending one phase of being and moving into another. For many this will be like shedding their old, worn-out skin and finding a little wiggle room. For the more hardheaded this is going to be a difficult time.

In essence the Universe is under going a metamorphosis, and we are a part of this big, booming change. Fire may not fall from the sky, but a strong surge of energy will eventually permeate everything. For the ones that are riding the waves of change this will seem subtle.

Much like the Death card in the Tarot, this isn’t a true death; it’s more a transformation that leads to an awakening. This is much needed and we’ve been moving toward it for some time. For those of you “New Agers”, you will be able to attest to the fact that in the past 10-20 years spirituality and positive thinking have become more mainstream than ever before imaginable. You can buy Wayne Dyer at Wal-Mart folks! That’s huge.

In the past 5 years I have noticed my clientele has become more and more diverse with a larger number of men coming to visit without hesitation. People are feeling the pull to be aware of their deeper self, to tap into the subtle and ephemeral.

To sum up The End of the World in a nutshell… it goes like this….

What you believe about yourself, and the world and how it all works will be magnified. So get this, if you think that you’re a victim, everything is bad, and nothing ever works out for you… I’m sorry to say, but things are going to get worse. We are moving into prime-time manifestation, baby! If you have dreams, dream them big because doors are going to swing wide open!

With that being said, this may not happen over night, but the change will be noticeable. So be ready, be willing and be happy :-)

To your gypsy souls,

Shaheen

then dance

We live in a constant state of flux. In this state of perpetual motion you must learn to be in the center; Present, aware and allowing. As you ride these waves of change and transformation you beginning to shed layers of skin revealing new faces, perspective, dreams and talents. This is essentially the secret of life.

There is so much resistance to change and transformation. I personally resist it at times because it can be intimidating and scary. Sometimes you don’t understand the transformation you are going through. You are dancing in the dark and you cannot feel your surroundings. You must close your eyes and perceive with your spirit. Befriend change and allow it to enter you…

I often find myself feeling like I need to write more, draw me, sing more… just needing to be more creative and then I realize that I need to allow the creativity to flow through me. You cannot force art. When you are pursuing dreams you must be well rested. You may need some down time, just being present in the moment, allow the confusion to be a sense of calm before the real “change” begins.

Ideas will stalk you. Your dreams will stalk you. The things you are destined to do, will stalk you… until you allow them into your life and you allow the transformation to begin. I have had many clients tell me that they want to do this or that… but the opportunity never comes or it never works out. And really the problem is that they never allow it to. I can relate. I feel that I should be making music… writing and singing… but that will never happen if I don’t sit down and play the piano, record a song, try to hit the stage!

Don’t worry about missing opportunities because if it is meant to be it will come again… but don’t push them away from yourself repeatedly because you fear the outcome. The old cliché… “What do you have to lose?” Is perfect here. Be gentle with yourself, love yourself, but love your dreams and goals, as well. Don’t stand in your own way. Take uncertainty by the hand and walk for a while. Then dance. Then see how it all changes, again.

unfinished business

Memories, feelings and thoughts, left lingering on the edge of your mind and heart. Sometimes they seep into your veins, encompassing every part of you. Looking out at life and seeing the repetitive things that leaves nothing but a sour taste of confusion in your mouth. Wondering what the reason is for this reoccurring ghost.

What is it that keeps you held to this circumstance, this feeling, this person? What is this cycle that you cannot find your way out of? It’s as if some spirits haven’t been appeased, an unsettled force that infiltrates all aspects of your life.

You ignore, fight, push and scream at all these things that you just can’t shake. You look in the mirror, saying to yourself, that you have moved on… the feelings have changed, the situation has changed, your mind has changed… but there is still something to be learned.

This unfinished business isn’t here to torture you. It’s not a curse that you will never break. It’s a teacher in disguise. Sometimes it feels like a wicked devil staring you down… but in many ways it’s your guardian angel taking you deeper into your own spirit. If you hold out this dark night, you will be sure to find strength and empowerment deep within your spirit.

Those things in your life that seem to be chronic, constant and never ending are the things that we haven’t completely learned from. Situations and circumstances cycle through our lives, and the sooner we absorb the essence of their lesson… the sooner the ghost are put to rest and we can move onto the next thing.

Between two lives. Fighting a feeling that I thought had already died. A ghost and a renegade… haunting and taunting. I’ll listen this time… maybe now when I go, it will ease my heart and mind… finally this unfinished business can be laid to rest.

let yourself be

Sometimes its difficult to stay grounded in the moment. Responsibilities tend to drag us away from our center. We catch a glimpse of those things that inspire us, and then some other, “more important thing” pulls us away.

Our creativity is a bird fighting to be freed from its cage. We want to feel connected and empowered; yet we put our spirit’s health on the backburner. I am guilty of getting swept away by all the external things in life, the unimportant and conflicting. You have to find those moments of calm in the middle of the storm.  It is in those moments that the most powerful epiphanies will occur.

When you are confused and seeking clarity with no success, stop trying for just a second and allow yourself to be. Do something that brings you joy and relaxes you. Listen to your favorite CD, play an instrument, go for a walk, read a book, draw or paint… anything that allows you to lose track of time.

In those in-between moments, when time seems to sleep away, a door to our inner world opens and we can hear the voice of our intuition. Finding clarity isn’t always about going on some long and drawn out spiritual pursuit. Sometimes the spiritual fix we need is just a few minutes of play.

  • Stop trying, and just be.
  • Lose time for a while. Just PLAY!
  • Remember creativity feeds the soul. Make it a priority.
  • Be mindful of your thoughts, they gauge what you bring into your life.

I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams,
and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined,
he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

Black Cat Wisdom

My black cat is undoubtably my best friend. Him and I have a wonderful connection.I’m pretty certain that him and I are soul mates.

I am constantly learning something new from him. He is the wildest, cutest and bravest little thing you have ever met in your life. There is no questioning his tenacity and independence. And let me tell you… do not make him mad because he will chase you down and give you a peace of his mind.

His mystery never ceases to amaze me. He loves with extreme passion and lives with the ultimate grace. When I come home every day he follows me through the house chatting with me about, I assume, whatever his day consisted of and then he does a flop and a roll and invites me to rub on his fuzzy little belly. And when I’m not feeling well he instantly knows and he snuggles up next to me and works his hardest to ease my pain.

Watching him has taught me some wonderful things. Like a witch and her familiar we seem to have an intuitive connection that is unbreakable. He always enchants people and makes new friends. He is boisterous, friendly and a little bit of a goofball. Ask anyone who has sat down to get a reading… he loves to come up and give his spin on whatever the cards might say!

So I have decided I would start a series of post sharing with you some of the the things that Baby Ali has shared with me. These will be titled “Black Cat Wisdoms”. I hope you find them insightful and humorous. Keep checking back to see what mylittle b

lack cat might have to tell you!

Best Wishes,

Shaheen

Metaphysical Answers: Spiritual Map

Here is a wonderful question that a client sent to me that I believe many of you can relate to:

I would like to understand or grasp the following concept: If I have free will and I am the creator of my destiny, what happens to the contracts I agreed upon before being incarnated? Does this mean that I will experience what I agreed upon, but during my incarnation I will have free-will on how to get there? Does this also mean that I can accelerate or slow down the learning of those lessons? I hope I make sense. Blessings!

Dear friend,

This is a wonderful question, one that I have been asked before and one that I have contemplated myself. This can be a very confusing concept, but it can be explained by understanding the map or contract we created for our journey.

Before incarnating we create a contract that is laid out like a map. This map highlights the key concepts that we wish to learn in our incarnation that will lead us to “enlightenment”. We detail different experiences that we want and need to learn for our spiritual growth.

In my personal experience I have found that we detail first our soul groups. These are the people that we will be working with in our lifetime; starting with key figure, such as our family (parents, spouses and children). Often times we choose these people because their souls evolution links up with our own. For example: Your husband or wife may wish to learn to be more conscious of others needs, while you may be seeking more patience.

After deciding on whom you will be learning with, you set out the actual obstacles or courses. This covers many things from what career path you will be working in, to possible health issues, to the major life shaking events. What you must remember is that like a real map, you set out a “destination”, which has may routes.

Think of this visually. If you are setting out on a road trip and your goal is to get to a specific park, park X, in a specific town, in a specific state, you can map this out. You may choose to take the scenic route, you may choose the highway, or you may choose a very obscure bumpy path. Each path will be very different, but they will all lead you to your destination, park X.

So in this life you will have mapped out many things. Some of the lessons you have mapped out will be physical obstacles, dealing with health, security and safety. Others will be mental/emotional dealing with relationships, addictions, beliefs and fears. And also, spiritual obstacles dealing with faith, religion, beliefs and issues of your own divinity.

On your map you will have strategically placed the right people, the right places and the right events to help you to achieve your goals of spiritual growth. And just like a real geographic map, you will have created alternate routes in order to achieve this.

Now, Understanding the concept of free will is very simple, we are divine beings.  We are facets of the all, of Spirit. We are nothing more than extensions of the divine experiencing our own divinity. As they say you can read a how to book about something, but unless you actually do it, the knowledge is useless. That’s why we are here… to do! You choose how fast or slow you get to your mapped out goals, like I said before you decided which road to travel down.

The pace that you learn at is completely up to you. It may not seem that way when you are in the process of living your map, but on a spiritual level your soul is constantly being guided by this.

Often times people will ask me questions in a reading that I do not know the answer to, simply because the future is only a possibility. Depending on the next path you choose that outcome may change too. Sometimes I will even tell people that I can feel something in the works, but I am unsure of how its going to play out, simply because they haven’t decided.

Being more conscious of this concept can help you learn, evolve and grow much faster. But really the quickest way to get to point X is to trust in your intuition. Your intuition is your spiritual navigation system. It is constantly trying to link you up to the quickest, smoothest and easiest path to your pre-determined destination.

Best wishes,

Shaheen
