A Time of Parting: A Halloween Message

securedownloadThe night is a gentle fog falling around me, enveloping me, wrapping me in velvet darkness. A cool, inky feeling has settled upon me. My soul is coming out in layers and colors, symbolic gestures that have come before in some ancient life. The autumn is alive and well… the reining queen of the harvest has come to claim her glory.

This is the time when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest. Our ancestors are among us, cloaked and smiling. Bright shinning stars are lighting up the in-between. Trust your feelings, the shivers, the inspirations, and the insights that have been gifted to you in crystal perfect. This is the time of remembrance. This is the time of parting.

Hold your fears in your hand like little pebbles. Name them, breathe life into them, and then cast them into the fire. Let the cleansing light renew you; relieve you of your worries and concerns. The leaves fall knowing that they will be reborn in the spring. Trust in the process of nature.

I’ve begun pulling cards to tell stories. There are messages in pictures and images. The Universe is speaking to us… imparting wisdom if you hush for a second and bend your ear to listen.

I pulled three cards from the whimsical, Halloween Tarot:

The King of Bats (Swords)

The King of Imps (Wands)

The Four of Pumpkins (coins).

A curious mix of characters have come out to play; the stately kings sitting on their thrones and the benevolent pumpkin creature working diligently in his garden.

The King of Bats

The King of Bats is a reminder to let your thoughts be clear, and in doing so cast away doubt and worry. Your thoughts are powerful charms warding and drawing things to you. Learn to be conscious of what you’re thinking.

The King of Imps

The King of Imps urges get out of your head; channel your thoughts into action. Release the old and begin sewing the new. You have pure energy and potential waiting to be utilized. All you want is within your grasp if you push forward.

The Four of Pumpkins

The Four of Pumpkins whispers…what you begin to sew will bloom and grow into something beautiful and spectacular. You may not see it now, but it will come! Your thoughts are seeds waiting for life, all you need to is meet the Universe half way by pushing your dreams.

Now light a candle to honor your ancestors. Call on the ones you love, and your Spirit Circle to guide, and guard you through the cold, and dark times of Winter.

5 Tips for the Thriving Empath

Empaths are highly attuned, sensitive individuals who have a natural connection to the subtle worlds. These are the subtle worlds of thought, emotion, spirit and energy. These people tend to be artistic, intuitive and right-brained individuals who process the world around them through “feeling”.

The reality of the empath can be confusing and painful because they tend to take the weight of the world on their shoulders. On a vibratory level, empathic people are highly attuned, meaning that they can tap into things that others may not. Usually they are more introverted, and need reprieve form the world around them.

Stillness, rest, and retreat are the necessity of the empath, yet empathic people seldom create the space for this in their lives. Usually this is the result of not knowing that you are experiencing life through empathic awareness. But now you have validation that you are not alone, nor are you “too sensitive”. Actually you have been given a fine-tuned gift, a type of navigation system to guide you through the world, and down the path to your highest good!

5 Tips for the Thriving Empath

  1. Stay grounded in your daily life.
  2. Take time for rest, regeneration and stillness.
  3. Eat foods that ground you such as root vegetables, nuts, and stone fruits.
  4. Set an intention for yourself each day that expresses your highest good.
  5. Say no to things that deplete your energy, always asking yourself: Is this feeding my spirit?

The Spider’s Medicine

As a creative there is a place that lies between worlds in which you go to tap into your spirit. This is the liminal space where light and shadow becomes one, where abstract ideas and inspiration become whole and tangible. As an artist you are a channel, bringing into life something that is beyond the everyday… whether it be words, sounds, visual or tangible art.

When traveling in the neither regions I often find the Spider to be a powerful guide. She is the weaver of words, the keeper of the alphabet and language. She spins gossamer thin strands into a strong and mighty tapestry that captivates, and even imprisons you.

The Spider is the patron of all artists, especially writers.

When the Spider visits you, you know you are about to embark on a powerful journey. She is the Queen of intrigue. She lures people in, ask them to stay for a while, and entices all their senses. She creeps in and out of your consciousness, and begs you to take a deeper look.

If you see spiders throughout your daily life… ask yourself, “What story must I begin to tell?” or “What idea must I weave into existence?”

The Spider asks you to pay attention. She advises you to let ideas simmer and incubate in the dark matter of your spirit, until the time is right. So be patient with your creative ventures. Be an observer. Notice what you notice. When the inspiration hits… it is time to act!

My personal spirit guide is a black cat named, Spooky. She slips in and out of my life. Giving me little signs. Sometimes they are warnings, and other times they are nudges to move forward. She always makes herself known, blessing and protecting me along my path.

A few years ago when I spent my winter in New York City she took on another life. I would have these very vivid dreams of Spooky. I would be in some random space, a little disoriented, but unafraid. And suddenly there she would be. Winding around my legs, stirring the energies in the room. And then suddenly she would transform herself into a huge jet black Tarantula.

The Tarantula would climb up my body; scurry around my back, and onto my shoulders. Then she would make her way to my scalp and rest on the crown of my head. Her energy was mysterious, daunting and very magnetic.

I knew the Tarantula was a friend. I knew she was blessing me and pushing me to take my art to another level. Spooky called her into my consciousness. Like a beam of light, she lit up the dark spaces. That winter was a powerful time of finding myself, as a person, as a spirit, and as an artist. I wrote differently after that. I drew differently. I approached things in a whole new way.
When I stray far from my gypsy soul… I see the Spider. She is another facet of the little, friendly black cat that blurs in and out of my awareness. When I see her I know a door is about to open, and idea is about to be born. I remind myself to pay attention.
The medicine of the Spider is so unique because it challenges our worldview and shakes things up. She truly is the guardian and guide of all creative efforts. Ask for her help. She is an amazing listener. She will give you the answers you need.

Appropriately enough, as I sit here writing this, I pick up a deck of cards and one randomly falls from it. The card that jumped out to say hello is the, “Throne of Spiders”. To me this is an invitation for all of you to step into her kingdom, to be knighted by her medicine.

Ways to Invite the Spider’s Medicine into Your Life:

  • Find a beautiful painting of a Spider. Leave it at your desk, altar, or some other place of power within your personal space. This will invite her spirit. When you are feeling stifled with writers block, or unsure what path to go down next with a project, just ask for her help.
  • Keep a small talisman of a Spider with you. This could be a spider totem carved from onyx, or wood. A medallion with her image embossed on it. Or even a small painted image that you carry on a necklace. This will allow you to digest the powerful energies she holds.
  • Light a black candle placed over an image of a Spider. This will be your lantern of creativity.
  • Weave a dream catcher from silver thread. Add a few black, dark blue, or green beads to it. Adorn it with images for the Spider, or something that captures your creativity. This will serve as a talisman that attracts abundant creative ideas!

Be creative! The Spider will connect with you in whatever way feels appropriate.

Trust your spirit.

Realign

We are moving into the second month of the New Year, and we are being pushed through doorways and into new territory to explore! This is a powerful time to make a new path for yourself, and link into something that strengthens your intentions for the 2015!

As you move into the unknown create a strong intention for yourself, to affirm your goals, and center your energy. Don’t give your power away to fears and limiting ideas. Use chaos as a creative force, rather than an enemy. Let go of the need to be in control of things, dance in the dark. Trust your intuition, and know that the Universe will respond.

There is something enlightening about letting go of the need for control of our external lives. Rather, focus on the intention of your words, thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. Let your thoughts and actions speak for you. Though it is true you cannot change your physical circumstance; you can change your reaction to the thing around you. You are the creator of your reality.

Our thoughts, dreams and wishes are the way we tell the Universe what we want. Never forget that whatever you give your focus to is a request sent to the Universe… do you want to ask for negative, or positive things? Be aware of this.

Take 10 minutes a day to become conscious of the energy you are building and directing. Hold in your spiritual center a positive feeling, idea or goal; be clear with your intention. You will be amazed at how many beautiful things will grow and bloom in your life if you do this daily!
