As we stand at the threshold between dark and light we are reminded of inner balance, and the need to acknowledge the shadow. Honoring the shadow fortifies you against the chill of coming months, and allows the shamanic journey of meditation and deeper work to begin.
As darkness grows, and sun slips away the nights become stronger enveloping us in a fertile, shrouded space of self-reflection, including the mysteries of death, passage and ending. For this reason honoring the bounty of the year is an essential prayer to empower your steps forward. Expressing gratitude for abundance found in Spring and Summer helps plant seeds of sustinance deep in your soul that can be drawn upon in the barren winter months.

Let your body become still, all your parts releasing held tension. Then invite your shadow into the forefront of your mind. Allow a vision or feeling to come up. Then begin to move your body in a way that expresses those sensations. What does your shadow move like?

In your minds eye summon a vision of the dark, shadowy figures in your life…your Ghost(s). Your Ghost represents parts of yourself, and your life you are afraid of. That you hate, resist or cannot find peace with. These shadows are the wounds you are carrying around, or the monsters you are reacting to.
Describe Ghost: What does it look like? What does it feel like? What does it sound like? What does it smell like? Does this Ghost remind you of anything? Does Ghost bring up any memories?
Being a Storm
Reaching into this overwhelming sense of darkness often gifts us with beautiful treasures. Move into the storm of transformation and you will find a new groove. What you initially experience as chaos is usually a wake up call. Your spirit, and the Universe have partnered together to ask the big questions:
- Do you know what you are intending into life?
- What are you feeling, vs what are you wanting to feel?
- How are you taking care of yourself?
